Aguilar Family

When we began teaching the business training program in Brooke’s Point and got to know the Aguilar family, it quickly became clear they had something special. So instead of providing the usual two piglets and a few sacks of feed, we took a different route. We gave them the full ₱18,000 so they could purchase a breeder pig. With their deep experience in pig raising and breeding, it felt like the smartest way to help them get back on their feet.

To support the effort, To Seek Life pre-purchased three piglets from the first litter to help cover the cost of feed and breeding.

In June 2025, their first litter arrived. Twelve piglets were born. Two sadly were stillborn, but ten strong, healthy piglets are now thriving and growing fast.

A Deeper Impact

Brother Aguilar has always been a strong and steady member of the Church. After the heartbreaking loss of their son to a heart condition, life took a hard turn. The family lost their pig business and, for six months, they had no choice but to live in their pig barn while they tried to get back on their feet.

As Sister Aguilar put it with a laugh:
“It wasn’t too bad. Until one of the pigs pooped and the stench permeated everywhere.”

That experience sparked a serious commitment to cleanliness. They now clean the pig pens immediately and regularly. In fact, their farm is one of the cleanest we’ve ever seen. They work from sunup to sundown, and it shows in every part of their operation.

Through it all, their faith has remained unshaken. Brother Aguilar, who once served as Branch President, has taken life’s hardest moments as chances to grow closer to Jesus Christ. Sister Aguilar said that since losing their son in 2017, this is the happiest she’s felt. Cleaning the pig pens three times a day brings back sweet memories of their son helping them on the farm.

This program didn’t “rescue” someone who wasn’t trying. It simply gave a hardworking family a little breathing room. It helped ease the daily burden of surviving and brought a bit of healing to hearts still grieving. Most of all, it gave them hope for the future.
